The Poetry of Ellen Fair

My World

slowly, softly, sweetly
the night, the raven void
alive with dancing light
causing the tree tops to
stretch for a mere touch

the nested quail, hearing
the silence, enfolds her
eggs against the danger
that is not there, safe
beneath her wings

the wild berries tease
with their sweetness,
a deceiving smile;
the fruit when tasted
is mysteriously tart

like weak stray arrows
moonlight follows me, and
I am in awe, feeling the mystery of
The Being that so carefully
and sweetly enfolds my world
